Women Only: Help Buying Books

If you are a woman, a non-traditional student and can prove you need financial assistance, there is help available for buying textbooks.

The UCA University Women organization is accepting applications for three $200 book scholarships they will award for the fall semester. Applications are available at the Torreyson Library reference desk and the graduate office in Room 328, and at the undergraduate office in Harrin Hall. They are due by April 9.

You must be at least 23 years old, currently enrolled at UCA with at least 12 hours and have a 3.0 GPA. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible.

University Women was formed more than 50 years ago to help female students at UCA. Membership is open to all women affiliated with the university. Annual dues are $15, half of which is used to pay for the book scholarships. The organization also sponsors a team at the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. They wear purple shirts with "Bearfooting for the Cause" written on them.
