Want to more about them? Here's your chance.

The Office of Student Services is sponsoring the annual "Go Greek Night" tonight in the Student Center Ballroom. It begins at 5 p.m. and it is free.

Each of the Greek organizations will be present with information about their organizations. Although the event is provided primarily for freshmen, everyone is welcome to attend.

We have four separate Greek councils on our campus. The Interfraternity Council (IFC) governs the traditionally Caucasian fraternities and the Panhellenic Council governs Caucasian sororities. The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) governs the African-American fraternities and sororities. The Independent Greek Council (IGC) governs any of the sororities or fraternities that are not covered by the other councils.

The NPHC requires students to attend this event before they can join an NPHC organization.

"I believe that Go Greek Night is a great opportunity for freshman to come out and ask questions to know more about Greek life on the campus of UCA," said Lindsey Osborne, the Panhellenic advisor. "We tell them about the Greek community and the policies and requirements for recruitment."

It's that time of the year again, the night that campus Greeks go stepping out.

The 12th annual All-Greek Step Show is today at 7 p.m. in the Farris Center. It's a loud, raucous event that draws a couple thousand spectators each year.

All three Greek councils on campus come together every year to sponsor the event and provide a forum for the Greek organizations to perform and compete for the title of All-Greek Step Show champion.

The sororities and fraternities are paired together and each forms a team. The teams prepare a routine and practice it for months. They will perform those routines in the competition tonight.

“So far, it looks like this year is going to be even better [than last year] and should provide plenty of entertainment for all of the UCA community,” said Gordon McGuire, co-chairman of the Greek Special Events Committee.

Here are the pairings and order of performance for tonight's show:

Sigma Sigma Sigma, Phi Sigma Kappa, Sigma Nu, Delta Sigma Theta

Delta Zeta, Kappa Sigma

Alpha Sigma Alpha, Omega Psi Phi

Alpha Sigma Tau, Zeta Phi Beta, Phi Beta Sigma, Phi Lambda Chi, Beta Upsilon Chi

Sigma Kappa, Pi Kappa Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha

“Each group works hard at organizing and practicing their own steps and dance moves and on Friday they'll be able to showcase their hard work for the enjoyment of not only the Greek Life community, but also the UCA community as a whole,” said McGuire.

Greek organizational and individual awards will be presented between step routines, including Greek Man and Greek Woman of the Year awards.

Tickets are $10 at the door.

Check out a video of the step show from a couple of years ago.

Sigma Tau Gamma's 32nd annual Fite Night drew a huge crowd to the Conway Expo Center on Wednesday and Thursday nights. The event ended with a champion in each of the five weight categories, a champion female fighter and a new Miss Knockout ring girl.

Brandon Mittermeier won the heavyweight title in a three-round decision over Bobby Hobbs. Noah Jones defeated Remmington Dunlap for the middleweight title. Sam Welborn won the lightweight division championship in a three-round decision over Joseph Carvantes. Daniel Dring beat Ben Reams for the welterweight title.

In the featured Greek division, Kyle Tabor defeated Phi Lambda Chi's Dylan Massey, who quit during the third round after becoming disoriented, and Sigma Phi Epsilon's Chris Rigsby in a unanimous third-round decision to claim the title.

Three fights between girls were added to the agenda Wednesday night after several girls got into the ring and offered to fight. Valarie Selles beat two competitors Thursday night to claim the title. After a unanimous three-round decision over Nikki Allen in the first fight, Selles beat Jackie Parnell in a three-round decision in the title bout. We've attached a video of that bout below.

A scene from Fite Nite.

If the fights weren't enough to entertain the crowd, the ring girls filled the void. The girls walked around the ring with cards announcing the next round and strutted as part of the competition for Miss Knockout. Jenna Henson won the title. Taylor Paymaster was first runner-up and Alaina Smith was second runner-up.

This year’s show includes Greek organization from throughout central Arkansas competing for $3,000 in prize money. Organizers expect the competition to attract an audience of hundreds of students.

The show orginally was scheduled for March 6 but had to rescheduled because of a shortage of police officers to provide security for the event.
Phi Beta Sigma offers prize money to the top three finishers. The overall winner gets $1,500. Second place gets $1,000 and third place gets $500.

Tickets are $15 and available at the door.

After the show, Phi Beta Sigma will host a party at The Old Gin building downtown at 1016 Markham St. Doors open at 11 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NOT MUCH BACKGGROUND ON THIS EVENT. THIS IS THE FIRST "BEST OF THE BEST" STEPSHOW. NOT SURE HOW TO POST PICTURE SO I WILL SEND TO YOU IN EMAIL

The "Best of the Best" Step show scheduled for tonight in the Ida Waldron Auditorium has been postponed until April 23.

It seems that the hosts of the annual show, the Iota Pi chapter of the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, couldn't find enough UCA police officers to provide security at the event. The UCAPD officers are busy preparing for a campus drill on March 11.

This year's show includes Greek organization from throughout Central Arkansas.
