Student Arrested for Child Porn

Steven R. Swanson, a UCA student, pleaded not gulty to 588 charges of possessing child pornography this afternoon in Faulkner County Circuit Court.
Swanson’s bond was set at $10,000. His attorney, Brad Williams of Conway, said Swanson’s parents planned to post the bond later today. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 8.
Swanson, 20, of Russellville, was arrested about noon Monday after two weeks of investigation by UCAPD and the Arkansas State Police. University police said they were told by two people on March 14 that Swanson had child pornography on his computer. Officers went to Swanson’s apartment in Bear Village within hours and confiscated the computer, according to Marcus Vaden, prosecuting attorney for the county.
During the past two weeks, the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit of the Arkansas State Police found “pictures, movies and other viewing material” of child pornography on the computer, Vaden said. More charges could be filed as the investigation continues, he said.

“The UCA Police Department did a wonderful job of moving quickly and deliberately to make certain that these materials could not be destroyed or concealed and find the person responsible,” Vaden said.
Swanson also works part-time on the IT help desk on campus.
588 that says it all, this person is highly disturbed.
One hopes he got caught before he could act on his fantasies. He’ll get counseling behind bars.
Ahh…it’s that guy’s facebook picture. Good thinking. They need to send this poor guy to rehab, not jail. Getting raped in jail isn’t going to make him less likely to view child porno or act on his impulses once he gets out of jail. He needs to have a plea bargain and go to some serious sex rehab.
Well, 588 counts…thats 5,880 years in jail. I’m not too sure he’ll have to worry about life after prison.
Wow that is so creepy. I graduated with this guy……sadly I can’t say that it surprises me. He was always a little “different”
that is highly disturbing children should not b exploitted like that and a reasonable person would not have that or b looking at it….that is disgusting and sick children area gift from god and should be treated as such s**t like this is gross and wrong… and he needs rehab and jail…..he just needs to be kept out of public and away from people and all schools
