Soccer Bears Lose MVC Opener
The men's soccer team dropped another game this weekend in their Missouri Valley Conference opener with a 2-1 loss to Missouri State in Springfield, Mo.
The Bears (1-6-2) only had seven shots with only one of them on goal. Missouri State (3-5-2) had 17 shots with seven on goal. Missouri State had a big advantage in corners with seven to UCA's two.
Missouri State took the lead at the 35-minute mark and held it until the last five minutes when junior Ethan Miller got a late goal for the Bears, his first goal of the season. UCA goalkeeper Paxti Shortsleeve tied his season high of five saves.
The Bears will play again Wednesday when they take on Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in Illinois. Game time is 7 p.m.
