President Praises Volleyball Team

UCA President Allen Meadors congratulated the Sugar Bears volleyball team last night for its conference championship and academic achievement.

Meadors made the comments at the Prince Center during a small ceremony to award the members of the volleyball team their Southland Conference Championship rings. The team finished the season undefeated in conference play, 16-0, and 27-3 overall.

In addition to their athletic prowess, team members had a combined GPA of 3.5. Every player had a personal GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Coach Steven McRoberts handed out awards to players for individual achievements before distributing the championship rings. At the end of the ceremony, McRoberts asked the team's four departing seniors - Evaree Franklin, Jennifer Hausky, Robyn Smith and Amicha Williams - unveil the three new banners that will hang in the Prince Center. Two of the banners are for the team's two previous East Division titles and the third is for being the conference champions.
