Police Report: Sunday, March 14

The following information was taken from incident reports at UCAPD. Incident reports are filed daily by officers to document and describe each call they answer during their shifts. These reports are made available by university police after they are approved by a supervisor. That process takes a day or two, which delays our report a day or two. This is a complete report of the incidents filed for Sunday, March 14.

  • Non-student Ivor Gordon, 28, was arrested about 5 a.m. Sunday after an officer found a vacant car illegally parked south of Carmichael Hall. While the officer was at the car, four males arrived, all claiming ownership of the car. The officer interrogated each of the men, then started to leave. He was informed by dispatch that the man who was about to drive the car did not have a driver's license. The officer stopped the car and called in Conway police officers. All four men had suspended driver's licenses and criminal records. Gordon also had a warrant from the Arkansas Parole Board. He was arrested and banned from campus.
  • Student Kyle Bickell, 19, was arrested early Sunday morning for public intoxication while stumbling down Western Avenue. Bickell, who was walking southbound by the Western Place Apartments around midnight, smelled like alcohol and was drooping while walking. When the officer spoke to him, he noticed Bickell swaying and that his pants were unzipped. Bickell was arrested for public intoxication and held at the Faulkner County Detention Center for six hours for detoxification.
  • Students Christopher Ethridge, 22, and Taylor Schmidt, 21, were issued Judicial Board notices early Saturday morning after officers found several alcohol containers, some empty, in their on-campus apartment. Officers looked inside the apartment after they found a man on his knees vomiting outside the apartment. There were also about 20 people inside the apartment, most of whom were underage. Ethridge and Schmidt claimed responsibility for the alcohol and were both issued citations.
  • Student Sawako Tsutai, 21, was involved in an automobile accident about 9 a.m. Sunday. She stated that while pulling into a parking spot, she attempted to hit the brakes, but instead pressed the gas pedal, hitting one of two pillars in front of her apartment. She damaged the front bumper of her car and destroyed the pillar. Tsutai was issued a warning for failure to maintain control of her vehicle.
