New Miss UCA Crowned

The new Miss UCA 2012 is Morgan Holt, a junior education major from Conway. She was sponsored by Alpha Sigma Tau.

Holt will receive a $6,000 scholarship, a one-year membership to Conway Regional Fitness Center and several photography and wardrobe allowances.

In addition to the overall title, Holt won  the swimsuit, talent and most photogenic categories of the competition.  Holt's talent was a jazz dance that featured perfect pirouttes and smooth ballet skills.

"I was really excited when they announced me the winner," Holt said after the pageant Friday night in Reynolds Performance Hall. "I didn't expect it. I worked hard, and I'm glad it turned out that way."

The first runner-up was senior Rachel Edwards. She received a $700 scholarship. She played a flute for the talent part of the competition.

Here are the other runners-up and their prizes:

  • 2nd runner up - junior Lauren Howell, $400 scholarship
  • 3rd runner up - senior Lauren Ragland, $300 scholarship
  • 4th runner up - sophomore Alyson Parsons, $200 scholarship

Miss UCA 2011, Alicia Haflich, Miss UCA 2010, Kerry Hawkins, and Miss Arkansas 2011, Kristen Glover, from Ouchita Baptist University also performed during the pageant. Haflich and Glover did tap dances and Hawkins twirled flaming batons. She also sang the national anthem at the start of the evening and "Blessings" by Laura Story before the presentation of awards.
