Moscow Ballet Wows UCA Audience

The audience was wowed by the performance of the Moscow Festival Ballet in its production of "Sleeping Beauty" last night in Reynolds Performance Hall.

The cast of 50 extraordinary dancers were clad in beautiful costumes. The tutus were covered in sequins and shined brilliantly when hit by the spotlight. Princess Aurora was a vision in a bright pink tutu as she gracefully flitted across the stage with charm and innocence while the Four Cavaliers tried to win her heart.

King Florestan and his queen were dressed in fine pieces of silver with a pale blue sweeping robe. Even the peasants had costumes that reflected their character.

All of the dancers were full of energy as they leaped and turned in the long performance. The serene Fairy of Lilac, who is in all three acts, seemed to just float across the stage as she guided the prince to Aurora in the second act. TheĀ prince was a strong and masculine dancer who defied gravity during his wedding variation.

In the third act, the creatures of fairyland delighted the audience as they performed at the wedding celebration. TheĀ audience laughed as the Tomcat and the Pussycat playfully danced across the stage. During the Bluebird and Princess Florina variations, the audience burst into applause after watching the amazing set of difficult brise voles.

Both the lighting and the set were spectacular and aided the performers in their character portrayal.
