Volleyball Team Gets Award Tonight

The Sugar Bears volleyball team will receive their 2009 Southland Conference Championship rings at a 7 p.m. ceremony today in the Prince Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The Sugar Bears were undefeated in conference play this year with a record of 16-0 and an overall record of 27-3.

Several of the team members received national recognition throughout the season including senior right-side hitter Chloe Smith, who was named to the ESPN Academic All-America Volleyball second team. Smith and junior libero Cristin Curl were also invited to tryout for the U.S. Women's National Team last month in Colorado Springs, Colo.
