CBC Coach Wins Home Run Derby

Jason Anderson, the softball coach for the Central Baptist College Mustangs, won the home-run derby on campus Wednesday and took home a 26-inch Vizio flat-screen television and a Best Buy gift card.

The Japanese Student Association and Japanese Club are offering a chance to experience Japanese culture today during X-period in the Student Center Ballroom.
It’s the third annual UCA Sakura Festival. Sakura is Japanese for cherry blossom. The cherry blossom has a special place in Japanese culture. You can read more about that here.

The Harry Potter books were runaway bestsellers and box office hits and now they are an academic topic.
Six classes based on the books are being held on campus through April 7. The classes started last week but the second class is at 6 p.m. today in McAlister Hall, Room 302, also known as The Forum.

The i.d.e.a.l. Freshman Leadership Team will host a fund-raiser today to raise money to support their program, “I Just Want to be Successful.”
The fund-raiser will take place between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Zaxby’s restaurant at 3800 Dave Ward Dr. Ten percent of the restaurant’s total receipts will be used to help fund the program. You might see some of the members there.

Brittney Bennett is Miss Essence 2010.
Bennett was crowned last night before a crowd of about 200 people in Reynolds Performance Hall. She also won the categories of People’s Choice, Miss Congeniality, Personal Interview and Most Ad Sales. The top prize included a $750 scholarship.
