Golf Team in Jonesboro Tournament

The Bears men’s golf team is in Jonesboro today and tomorrow for the Arkansas State Red Wolves Classic golf tournament.

Head coach Ryke Dismuke said the team is getting better with each tournament. Dismuke said the team is strong at course management but needs to improve at 150 yards.

The Bears will be playing a lot of good teams during the tournament, he said.

“Several of the teams shot really low," Dismuke said. "They haven’t lost their top players, so we have to play well.”

Sophomore DK Kim said he felt the team is doing great this semester and will do well in the tournament.

“We won two and finished third in the last three tournaments," Kim said. "Our team was very young last year with only sophomores and freshmen but this year, with a lot more experience, we are much better.”

On March 1-2 at the Grover Page Classic in Tennessee, the team finished first of 16 teams with a record of (277-279-291=847). On March 15 -16, the Bears finished first of 12 teams in the San Francisco Triumph at Panama Valley with a record of (296-297-296=889). On March 29-30, the Bears finished third of 18 teams in the University of Arkansas at Little Rock First Tee Classic (289-287-298=874).
