Bears Fall to Trojans 9-5
The UCA Bears baseball team fell to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Trojans 9-5 at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock yesterday afternoon.
The loss drops the Bears' early season record to 1-2.
The Bears out hit the Trojans 11-10, but just couldn’t seem to plate runners against the Trojans’ pitching staff. Sophomore first baseman Blake Roberts led the Bears with three hits, going 3 for 4 with a stolen base and two runs scored.
Sophomore left fielder Jordan Getchell, freshman right fielder Ethan Harris, senior shortstop Bobby Pritchett and sophomore pinch hitter/right fielder Jake Fuller all drove in one run apiece.
Senior catcher Landis Wilson hit a home run for the Trojans and drove in two runs to lead his team.
Sophomore starting pitcher Logan Ariola took the loss for the Bears allowing four runs, three of which were earned, over 3.1 innings. Trojans’ junior starting pitcher Ryan Juris took the win going 6.2 innings and giving up two runs.
The Bears play at home again at 3 p.m. Friday against the Saint Louis University Billikens at Bear Stadium.
