Your Chance to be a Champion

If you ever wanted to compete for an athletic national championship, this is your chance.

American Collegiate Intramural Sports held the first of six events on campus yesterday in the organization's search for four UCA student, two male and two female, to compete in the ACIS National Championship later this year at the Air Force Academy and Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The competition yesterday included an obstacle course on the basketball course in the HPER Center that had students running, dribbling through posts, making lay-ups and kicking a soccer ball before a final sprint to the finish line. The average finishing time was about 30 seconds.

The competition continues through the end of the week with biking and running events. Students must ride a bicycle for four miles and run for 1.5 miles. The events will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day in the HPER Center. Registration is available at HPER.

Nationwide, 200 universities are competing in the events. Students qualify by competing in events that test strength, agility, endurance, and speed.

The competition continues next week with swimming events.
