A Little Bit of Hollywood
The university got a taste of Hollywood last night at the world premiere of the feature film,"Table at Luigi's."
Limousines delivered the cast and crew. A simulated red carpet led the way into Reynolds Performance Hall. Most of the crowd were dressed in tuxedos and suits. A journalist interviewed people in front of the cameras. Then, about 500 people gathered to be the first to see the movie.
The event was more than a party theme, though. The UCA film program was celebrating an accomplishment shared by few other universities.
"Table at Luigi's" is the first feature-length film from the UCA film program and one of the few produced by any university program. It took assistant digital film professor Joe Dull and a crew of dozens of students and some faculty members about a year to complete the film.
Dull said he would enter the film in festivals and look for a distributor for it. The film also will provide a recruiting tool for the university and its film program, he said.
The film is the story of a chef who can control people's minds with his food. It is a thriving business until he meets a woman who isn't affected by his cooking. The two develop a turbulent relationship and the chef is forced to choose between his two loves, the girl and cooking.
